Carl Sundberg is a Florida-born, Oregon native residing in Portland, OR. He is an award-winning journalist, writer, musician, broadcast veteran and digital media strategist. Carl is currently the media and communications manager of an industrial hemp and CBD company.
He graduated on the Dean's List with a BS in journalism and a minor in business administration from the University of Oregon (UO) and his work as a reporter, writer and columnist has been featured in Metal Edge Magazine, Crave Magazine, 101 Distribution, Arena, RadioContraband, Oregon Voice Magazine, Oregon Daily Emerald and more.
His media career spans two decades and has taken him from Slash's tour bus to the East Room of the White House. Carl was a featured journalist in the 2009 documentary, Metal Machine Music: Nine Inch Nails and the Industrial Uprising and he was a Visiting Media Fellow at the Hoover Institute at Stanford University in 2017 and 2018.
Carl has held various positions in the broadcast industry, most recently the Executive Producer of a top-rated nationally syndicated radio show. He has served as Music Director to Assistant Program Director, Producer, Reporter, Program Director, Editor and Host. He has interviewed and booked some of the biggest names in the rock, comedy, entertainment, publishing, media and political worlds and has traveled around the country, where he has covered many festivals, international conferences, events, press conferences, trade shows, tours and award shows.
Additionally, he is a front-end web developer, graphic designer and digital content expert.
Carl enjoys drinking good bourbon, playing and writing music, and cooking for his long-time girlfriend Kea. They like to go camping and hiking, traveling and finding new restaurants in Portland, OR. When he's not working or spending time with friends and family, Carl spends his free time playing bass at ear-piercing levels with his post rock band, Glassbeard. He also hosts and produces a podcast and is slowly writing a book about his heavy metal adventures with transcriptions of his top interviews.
