Carl Sundberg is a Florida-born, Oregon native residing in Portland, OR. He is an award-winning writer, musician, broadcast veteran, and prominent media and marketing strategist.
In 2021, he founded Stonemonk Media, a digital marketing content company.
His media career spans two decades and has taken him all over the country, from Slash's tour bus to the East Room of the White House. Carl was a featured journalist in the 2009 documentary, Metal Machine Music: Nine Inch Nails and the Industrial Uprising and he was a Visiting Media Fellow at the Hoover Institute at Stanford University in 2017 and 2018.
In 2004, Carl graduated on the Dean's List with a BS in journalism and a minor in business administration from the University of Oregon (UO). Carl's work as a reporter, broadcast journalist, producer and columnist has been featured in Metal Edge Magazine, Crave Magazine, 101 Distribution, Arena, RadioContraband, Blabbermouth, Oregon Voice Magazine, Oregon Daily Emerald, FM News 101, KPNW, KFLY and beyond.
His experience in broadcasting is prolific, retiring as the Executive Producer of one of the biggest nationally-syndicated radio shows in the nation. He has served as Program Director, Music Director, Assistant Program Director, Producer, Reporter, Editor and Host for multiple rock and news formats. He has interviewed and booked some of the biggest names in the rock, comedy, entertainment, publishing, media and political worlds and has traveled around the country, where he has covered many festivals, international conferences, events, press conferences, trade shows, tours and award shows. Additionally, he is a seasoned front-end web developer, graphic designer and digital content expert.
Carl enjoys drinking good bourbon, playing and writing music, and cooking for his wife Kea. They like to go camping in their teardrop and traveling the outdoors of the great Pacific Northwest with their golden retriever, Odin. . He spends most of his time in his home recording studio working on band mixes and mastering songs. When he's not working on his company or spending time with friends and family, Carl spends his free time playing guitar and bass at ear-piercing levels with his post rock band, Glassbeard. Carl is also a podcast producer and host and is slowly writing a book about his heavy metal adventures along with the biggest interviews of his career.
