Reasoning with Madness
"This is a barbaric yawp, and it will be sounded over the roofs of the world."
-Walt Whitman
8/4/2015 0 Comments set fire memoriesIt takes some time to recover from getting "budget cut" from a dream career you've done and done well for a decade. It's been about three weeks since I got the axe and every day is a roller coaster of emotions.
There are times when I feel great. Free. Rejuvenated and empowered to build my own empire. I've made a career out of the simple belief that freedom of expression is crucial to life, and I've tested boundaries, I've pushed envelopes, I've shown that to stand for anything, you simply have to stand up. But a funny thing happened along the way. I started to catch heat for that philosophy. I was attacked. I was worn down by suits and the powers that be. Always trying to dull the blade of expression. And I've given in. Every year, I was worn down more. I had to or I wouldn't be working. And given the personal struggles I've lived through recently, I simply couldn't do that. So I sucked it up, and I gave in. Over and over again. Little by little, I gave up freedom for security and I became disgusted with myself for it. Not only that, but as I gave in to pressures that wanted the direction of things to go more their way, we all began to lose. In the beginning I made my stance known and clear and when we followed that vision, we succeeded. I succeeded. Profusely. And as I started to give up my position, let others lead, we began to fail. And look where it got me in the end. In the back of an unemployment line. I knew what needed to be done, but instead of fight for it, I let the others win. I gave in. And we all lost in the end. I can't legally get into specifics, but looking back, the one regret I cannot shake is that I didn't stand up and shout when it mattered. I didn't fight the wrong directions. I went with them, hoping to appease those who couldn't give two flying fucks about me in the end. When I was cut free from that reality, I vowed to never let people who stand for nothing tell me what to do again. But no more. I shall be Stronger. Better. Free. And anyone I work with will be on the same page with that concept. I'm getting too old to put up with idiotic bullshit. From anyone. When like minds connect, their powers are grown exponentially. I've seen it. I've lived it. I embrace it. I welcome it. Then, out of nowhere, the Fear comes. Cold "truths" blow into your head and make you sick. The Worry hits you. Yesterday was one of those days. Nauseousness and migraines, dizziness and panic attacks. It started strong at 4AM, where I woke to change the batteries on my dying smoke alarm (wild metaphors there, right?). The anxiety completely took over and riddled me with paralysis and gloom throughout the day and on through the night. Physical manifestations of mental anguish. Violent loneliness and self disgust. Embarrassment. Regret. Hatred. The Fear taking over. "You'll never get out of this rut," whispers that whore, Depression. "You're a fucking loser," she oozes into your head. "You're gonna lose everything. You can't afford your lifestyle. You're gonna have to sell your guitars. You mean nothing now. No one's calling you back, are they? No one's going to ever call you back. Everyone will cancel their plans with you. This self-righteous freedom bullshit you speak of is not gonna happen. You're gonna lie down like you always did. You're gonna shut your mouth, suck it up and be the monkey boy for whoever will hire you. You won't be happy and you won't succeed, you'll simply...get by. And you'll squeak out your meager existence until the day you're completely forgotten and your name will be nothing more than the hundred millionth result of a Google search." Depression wants you to hurt. She wants you to be still. She wants you to attack yourself. She wants you to fail. She will cripple you and crush you into a ball on your couch, unable to move, unable to breathe. Unable. To. Do. Anything. You fight her and her tricks but she's got you in a hold that's so familiar, so effective, so sickening. You've felt this before. You fight to get your work done. You fight to push through. You must break her spell. You don't stop moving. You do your pushups and planks, your weights and rituals. You sweat it out. You tend your garden. You water your lawn. Clean house. Wash the dishes again. You write. You play your guitar. You read. You watch some TV. You listen to some music. You eat the right foods. You wait. Tomorrow, as they say, is a new day. So when I woke up this morning, I decided to break that bitch Depression into pieces and that bastard Fear into bits. I decided to take the fucking fight to them and sneak attack them before they could come to me. "Not today motherfuckers. Today is MINE." My battle plan was simple. I decided to set them on fire with Love. The natural mortal enemy of Depression and Fear is Love. And Love can come in many forms. Now, let me be honest, I don't think that this single post, this subtle gesture will completely and totally free me from the struggles I will face as I embark on my journey forward into the future. I'm not naive. But so far, as of this writing, it has helped immensely already. What did I do, you might ask? Well, given that the fear and depression was stemming from what I have lost, so abruptly, so violently, so ugly, I decided to find the natural shield to that. Much like you rally your friends, family and loved ones by you in times of trouble and sorrow, I decided to do just that. I went through my Facebook page, my emails, my messages, my texts, and I collected all the kind words that were shared with me since the Fallout a few weeks ago. And I'm publishing them below. All twelve pages of them. And I intend to revisit them whenever I feel the hissing of Depression and Fear in my ears. Granted, this isn't a complete work. I've left out the phone calls, the voicemails, the conversations over beers, the nights at shows, the reunions and the out-of-nowheres that have come to me from all the Glorious Souls and Saints in my life. But this collection, well it's a good chunk of Love. And I'll start at the beginning, with the post that sounded the alarms and declared the end of my life as I knew it. They say that grieving is a long process, and I've learned that first hand, many times in my life. Whether it was a death, a broken relationship, family collapse, a loss of a friendship, or the loss of a job that meant everything to you, you must grieve. That's what I'm doing with this. Grieving. I know that at some point, all this will not hurt anymore. The memories will not come flooding in, crippling me with that weird happy nostalgia followed by the bitter aftertaste of sadness. I'll be able to set them on fire for good and move on, because there's nothing left. Once the memory fades, the reality is long gone. And from the ashes of those memories, I will be born again. And I've taken a few steps in that direction, and these are not the first, nor will they be the last. But they are steps in the right direction. Before I get to the comments, I just want to say THANK YOU to anyone who dropped me a line, whether it's below or not. And if, for whatever reason, you're reading your words and want me to pull them off here, let me know. I will. No worries. Either way, for everyone who has reached out...you are truly World Class. #### July 16, 2015 “Well, you can't turn him into a company man...You can't turn him into a whore...And the boys upstairs...Just don't understand anymore...Well, the top brass don't like him...Talking so much...And he won't play what they say to play...And he don't want to change...What don't need to change...There goes the last DJ...Who plays what he wants to play...And says what he wants to say...Hey, hey, hey...” -Tom Petty, The Last DJ Just a quick update, mainly for the friends, family and colleagues who haven't heard yet...I was let go from KFLY yesterday. Whole staff dumped, station being flipped. A Decade of Domination. Drew Tydeman. Marcus Bridges. Kirk Enbysk. We did our best, brothers. And I certainly can't forget Big Daddy Chad Tanner Haney...THE DONKEY SHOW! was easily one of the most captivating, inspiring radio shows that ever aired on radio. It kept my head in the game and made me believe that radio was still relevant. I learned much from all of you bastards. To all the other KFLY alumni over the years, you all rocked too. It's been a wild ride. I don't know what's next on the horizon, but there are bigger mountains to climb, I simply stayed too long on the plateau, I guess. I fought the good fight and will continue to do so. This shark is ready to move out of this pond anyway. Survival demands it. Thanks to all you crazed Throbbits and maniacs out there who kept us on top of the game. Alas, we were not making the bean counters enough and they decided to part ways. I will miss many of you and I'm sure I will see many of you on the journey forward. If anyone knows of any paying Gonzo Journalism Work I could do, I'm looking...radio...magazines...newspapers...weeklys...web...audio production...DJing...programming...I'll be penning a bit of a look back on my website later, but now you know. It's official. KFLY is over. Selah. #### You didn't mention your own show, Standard-Ass Carl, but many of us really enjoyed it, and will miss you much! You did a terrific job programming the best rock, Carl--new and old. Thousands of us wish each of you KFLY alums the best, and are hoping you'll find new jobs ASAP. -Sophie S. You are like rock radio Jesus, KFLY fucked up. Best of luck in future adventures, hope you go on to do something I can listen to, read, or watch. You rock man! Pissed to to see you go! -John M. You will be on VH1 with your own metal show my crystal ball says. -Lance M. I've been listening to you since "Voodoo & the Singapore Sling" days man, hate seeing this kinda thing happening! Take care man, brighter things on the horizon hopefully. -Justin M. KFLY has no clue what a fucking horrible mistake they made. Say what you want about the Donkey Show, but your show was ALWAYS on point. -Tobby L Carl, I absolutely can say that I will miss you at the station, and am right now. Our conversations about articles, books, life, and music were important parts of my day, and I don't see anyone in the building who will come close in approaching that. On a professional level you brought passion to the job, sometimes a near maniacal passion, but it WAS passion and those are the kind of people that are fun to have around you. Then there was your awesome Hulk-out, burn the house down, chase small children with a riding lawnmower while spewing free association vulgarities level anger when your righteous indignation gene would kick in. I'll miss that. Not only for the entertainment factor, but because it means I'm the only person left in the building where people will say, "don't talk to him today, he's being an asshole." Hunter S. Thompson, your favorite writer, whom you obliquely referred to in the original post, wrote a letter to a friend in the 50's who had asked him about what he should "do" with his life. Thompson's letter was fascinating and thoughtful, but in it he made the point that it isn't so much what you want to DO in life, but having the life you want to LIVE. Go live the life you want. The rest will follow. -Bill L. For a decade the local radio community Derrick Lau at KNRQ as well as Carl Sundberg and Tobby Lugo at KFLY all supported local musicians. They did it even though they got shit for it and knew most of the ratings would suffer. It was the indie spirit and pride in our local scene and artists. From the moment I hit the stage with SSJ to yesterday when Carl talked about Hyding Jekyll with pop evil I've enjoyed their support. I'm sorry to see Carl and KFLY gone. Thank you guys for all the support over the years I believe it's not just the listeners but the music scene as a whole that will feel this loss. Can still remember walking off john Henry's stage after an early Sunday straight jacket set and getting hit up by both Carl and DL for music they could play. I can't remember which one but one of them was like almost quality will do. It was a shock to us newbies but so very cool. Your work ethic will ensure you persevere through this shitstorm, I've no doubt of that. What you built can never be erased by corporate decisions, and the listeners and friends are living proof. Keep dominating, bro... we're behind you. -Blake O. I've always thought that you are a resilient genius, Carl. I heard you playing guitar in your room once 20 years ago, and I thought to myself "that's how good you could get if you commit to practice." So I did. And I do. Thanks for that. Some people panic when a storm hits. The best of us simply learn to adjust the sails. It looks like that's just what your doing. Wishing you all the best in this new chapter. -David B. Dude they are idiots and I'm sorry that this happened. I remember you giving all us bands air time on the Edge, playing our music and interviewing us. Your shows were nothing close to Standard Ass. They were top notch, as were all of your broadcasts. I rarely EVER listened to the radio, but when I did, it was KFLY. And it was because of jocks like you...and Drew and Marcus...even Cory. But it was the Standard Ass Rock Show and The Edge that really pushed the boundaries of mainstream radio. And for that, I thank you. I will be seeing you out and about, I'm sure. I think you have some good shit coming your way. -Terry G. I was so sad to hear the news, but you have so many talents that you'll be able to follow now. I loved listening to your show and the Donkey Show. When I get home I don't know what I'm gonna listen to now! Love you! - My Mom Sorry to hear about the bad news bro, it really was great listening to your show and the Donkey show and everything you guys did for the local music scene but I hope for the best for you guys in your future endeavors and keep fighting the good fight! -Justin V. Sad to hear it Carl!! Mostly sad for the Rock community - as I know you will be fine. Best of luck to you in the near future, and I hope to see you again soon regardless of what you are doing!!! -Roxy D. Wow. That's a shame. Thank you for supporting all of us musicians. You did alot for us. We appreciate it. Good luck. You'll find something in no time. -Ian B. All you have done Carl for all the local musicians is phenomenal... many bands in Oregon have greatly benefited from you and the way you didn't let mainstream media forget about the little guy. -Isaac T. This sucks...... you're a bad ass bro, you'll go and make something else awesome... fuck them... your resume must rock I'm sure... will miss the Standard ass rock show. I'll drink a beer for you today... Joshua B. LUNACY!! Thank you all so much for your support of local music throughout the years. I loved the show, loved the station. The only way to keep radio relevant is to support the local scene. Thank you guys again! THROBBIT 4 LIFE! -Damion B. I will miss hearing you & the music, Carl! I'm sorry this happened, but I am also INFURIATED that they got rid of some of the bestest DJ's this area has to offer & the BULLSHIT manner in which they did it!!! Maybe a lil Rage Against the Machine is in order? -Dawn T. Thank you Carl for every opportunity you ever put in front of me. Carl gave me an opportunity to shine when few would give a shy kid a chance. Friend no. He's family. There aren't many people like you left man. Stay in touch!! -Cory N. I will miss the Rock Report.. was always informative and well done. Keep your chin up man, greater things are on the horizon. You are a consummate professional with many talents, and I'm sure whatever the future holds for you, you will succeed. Take care my friend! -Jayson B. Wow.. Station 187? Was the best thing on the airwaves in ALL of Oregon. I wish you well. May your talents continue in promising pasture. In other words: kill shit. Keep rocking. Good luck... -Jason C. Really gonna miss listening after Tanner is done at 10 man. Really made my day suck less. Thanks for everything and good luck with whatever you end up doing. -Tony C. Oh man, what a bummer. What am I going to listen to on my ridiculous commutes between S. Oregon and Eugene now?? Thanks for the years of great programming, Carl. -Evan B. In 2002, KFLY FM moved their transmitter from Corvallis to Florence, allowing them greater power. Robert Dove and Chris Sargent flipped the station to Rock. Sarge was doing some live/semi-live shifts and I was still producing my music video show - Hard Times. I was invited to join the air staff and was even given the opportunity to provide some voice in the programming/scheduling. In the early days, I also did a lot of work out in the community to help promote - KFLY shows at venues, etc. Timm Higgins came on board and so did a kid whom went on to work at the Funky Monkey in Seattle. Later, Chad “Tanner” Haney and Drew Tydeman came over from KDUK to get The Donkey Show off and running. I was transitioning out and Carl Sundberg came on the air. Carl and I have chewed a lot of the same dirt over the years! Marcus joined Tanner and Drew. Eventually, Timm was gone, I went back into TV full time, Mandy Beemer came in from another station to do sales and some on-air, Robert and Sarge left, Jeff Gaulton came from booking clubs like The Millcamp into sales. The entire time, no matter whom was on the air or in the building, KFLY was more than just a radio station. KFLY was a hub, a center of music and lifestyle for a lot of people in a small community. (Yes, Eugene is small, folks). The signal reached south to Roseburg and North into parts of Portland. I used to get calls from Salem, Portland and all over. Many of those callers would say they preferred KFLY over KUFO. It was nice to know that here in the sticks, we could produce quality radio. Media, not just radio, is cyclical. Wise man once said: "All good things must come to an end." I am sad to see KFLY come to an end and I want to wish my fellow KFLY alums nothing but the best. We all had fun, worked our asses off and I would like to hope, made a difference to some people out there. Cheers! -Steve W. That station was my baby! Loved it and still have the bumper sticker in my office at home. You are right though, times change and while it's tough for me emotionally to see it go I'm sure BiCoastal sees a bigger opportunity in another format. Still, it was one heck of a run! Thanks to all who were part of building it!!! KFLY is Oregon's Real Rock!!!! By the way I still have the launch promo on my computer! It was one heck of a launch! Within two ratings books KFLY had the ratings of KZEL and KNRQ combined!! -Robert D. It was a fun run. Great team of people made that station come to life rapidly! Sad to see times change. Thanks to Robert Dove & Rich Hawkins for believing in the vision, plus the whole team for the hard work in making it great. Seems like just the other day we were rolling to Metallica in Seattle. What a Journey. -Chris S. A rough deal for everyone. I am sure that the talent I was surrounded by will be fine. Those guys are educated, experienced and savy. We will figure it out no matter what the challenge is. Personally, I worry about the guy who had the station on preset #1 and we helped them get home at night. I will work toward making that ride easier once again. -Drew T. Sorry to hear man. Active is a tough sell! You were great at bringing out the personality aspect of it though. -Brandon C. You have been a radio boss since I met you 20 years ago!!! Good luck to your success in the future!! You will be amazing. -Rita P. Sorry man. You told me years ago: Radio is a tough gig. I guess it makes me appreciate my part time Weekend Edition gig more. You got this man. The metal gods will smile on you. -Desmond O. Aaaand now I'm not going to even be turning on the radio. You guys made that station the only station worth listening to in eugene and surrounding areas, now! Well, I guess I'm going to be hearing a lot more of the tires on pavement... Thanks for all the great times and everything you personally did for all of the musicians in this town. You will be missed but never forgotten. -Kevin R. I'm so sorry to hear about this, Carl. This is a huge bummer for the community.. Seems like there's not a lot of rock stations left. BUT! I know you're a determined man, and you've worked hard to get where you are, so just keep working hard and I know something good will come your way. Good luck, man! -Ali B. Carl it's been great listening to you all these years and bumping into you at shows randomly. I am sad to see an era end. I suggest that we have one more unofficial... throbbit party with an edge ... Get some of the local bands together that you have supported over the air for a kick ass farewell party. (see what I did there) hopefully I get to see you before you bounce into you're next venture. -Amy M. This blows! Your standard ass rock show and the donkey show were the only reason I turned the radio back on, some six years ago. Now, my dial will darken once again......for the light has been canceled. -Richard J. Couldn't have said it any better, Richard. That's exactly how I feel, even cried a little...wtf is wrong with people now days? Those two shows were what kept me entertained when nothin else could. What are we suppose to do as listeners? Just suck it up, like everything will be fine? it wont. What a sad day. And, btw...I'm an old ass rocker, didnt matter what age ya are it was some of the best radio I personally have ever heard! and I've had 62 years of listenin! I even attended some of the "throbbitt" parties, what a classy bunch a guys, is all I can say! You'll be so missed. -Teri C. You've got to be fucking kidding me. I've been here since the beginning. Thank you brother! Every Monday through Friday I couldn't wait till 10! You made my mornings better! I wish you nothing but the best. Can't wait to see where you go from here! -Robert N. OMFG. Man, whencing tears to see this. Its said when one door closes, another opens. Well, how about when this one closes, a whole culture emerge? You got that umph necessary to send them marching in formation. Don't be a stranger. Let's throw down a BBQ soon in celebration of your time there and to new beginnings. Hell, as restricted as they'd made your capabilities there, it couldn't have lasted forever anyhow. - Shannon S. The good news is you have created a good name for yourself in the community. I have no doubt you will dramatically supercede even your own expectations. Can't wait to see! -Kila H. Sad day indeed...Will miss the throbbit partys fo-sure. -Ryan W. There's no point listening to KFLY without you guys there, my presets were deleted as soon as I found out! I'm going to miss you guys! -Tamee C. You all will be missed Carl. Thank you for what you did for all of us. -Terri W. Ah man. Your show was awesome Carl!! -Trevor K. It was a pleasure working with you... thank you for everything you helped teach me. -Amanda B. I heard about this yesterday..#RadioLife. Decompress, relax, and enjoy the downtime... you'll be back soon dominating again! -Johhny M. Sorry to hear this. -Kirstin A. Let's have a beer soon brotha !! -Issa K. Your good at what you do, buddy. Therefore, I'm sure it won't be long before you're doing it again. Ch ch ch ch changes. -Floyd M. Wow, brutal. Best wishes in your new ventures. You know the whole one door closes as another opens thing. Get some unenjoyment and take a break for a minute. I'll keep my eye out for openings. -Mitchell C. Going to miss the Donk show, but I'm going to miss listening to you as well Carl. Sad day for sure. -Michelle W. Carl so sorry to hear about the news hope you guys all get something soon. You all will be missed on the Radio. Love all you guys keep on rocking. look forward to hearing all you on another local station soon. -Chris C. BOOOOOO! -James P. I'm very sorry Carl! You will be missed. I looked forward to listening to you and The Donkey Show every day. I loved the music on your show! You all are what made that station what it was and will no longer be. It's a very sad time. I know you will find greater success in your future but there's void in Eugene radio now. -Brian W. The way the corporate world is now it wouldn't surprise me if it was pure greed as the reason it was pulled..I bet all of your salaries are now some fat cats bonus. I don't buy the whole "the people didn't want it anymore" story...I smell bullshit. -Jayson B. Crazy. This has got to be hard. But I've got a feeling something even better is on the horizon for you. You're exceptionally talented. You'll be okay. -Elena A. Wow!! The Donkey Show just got cancelled and I'm super bummed about it. I've listened to them on the radio for many years while working alone in my shop and I even had the opportunity to be in the studio and on the show once. I gifted them this bottle for their signature Donquila shots. Thanks for all the good times Tanner, Drew, Marcus and Carl. The DONK was truly something special. - Brian M. Sad to see your time go. I really enjoyed your show and your music selection! please post down the road for those of us that will listen and follow your career. Should you stay in broadcasting. -Glenn P. Even though my midday show was tracked from afar, I still loved working on The Fly with all of you guys...yeah, even Tanner & Drew. Sad times indeed. Much love from the former deejay formerly known as Tai. -Kevin K. Local live RELEVANT radio died today. THE DONKEY SHOW! was cancelled. While i was only an intern and have done some commercials and bits with them, this feels like a gutless punch to the junk. I can honestly that that the time I spent working with Drew, Marcus, Carl, Kirk, Mandy and Cory was the best time of my life and I have worked with few people that match up to their professionalism, class, humor, and spirit. The humor and style of that show got me through some of the darkest bs in my life. Anyone who says that entertainment is just entertainment is a damned fool. Trust me, it wasn't the music that had me listening to the show at 30,000ft on a MD-->OR flight. Was it just the music that keeps our local men and women in the Armed Forces like Throbbit Ted tuning in from all over? Do you like LIVE and RELEVANT radio, kids? congrats, it no longer exists. Want a jukebox and the "radio" equivalent of a Spotify station with no local flavor giving you any good reason to not just get an iPod? Congrats KFLY, you now have that. you now have just another radio station with NO compelling reason for people to tune in (let's face it, now it's no different than a rock station on Pandora now). To Drew, Marcus, Kirk, Carl, Mandy, Cory, Amy, Ashley: I do consider you great friends and I hold you dear in my hearts. If you need anything, 541817####. To the Throbbits: all of you are amazing and it fills me with pride when I get stopped by someone now and then. To KFLY: u are now off my phone. no point keeping u around. -James R I would not know you James...if you had not interned at the Donkey Show. You rocked...they rocked. Now we get the same cookie cutter rock played that we can get anywhere. -Dennis B. I agree with you 100% James R. I would not be FB friends with you if it weren't for THE DONKEY SHOW! I still can't believe that they axed one of the greatest radio programs ever. if KFLY is going to be another cookie cutter of a radio station, then I will no longer be listening. I would love to see you, Marcus, Drew, Kirk, Mandy, and Cory pull your resources together and have your own radio station where The Standard Ass Rock Show and THE DONKEY SHOW! can live again. We throbbits need that in our lives. -Daphne L. I don't think many people realize how much of an impact The Donkey Show had on people. It inspired me to go out and try standup comedy at Taylor's Bar and Grill. Not only was I able to finally meet Drew, Marcus, Carl, Mandy, Kirk and Cory, but I was able to come out of my comfort zone and try something new. They've raised so much money for charities over the years too. There is way more than the immediate impact of no more Donk Show on the airwaves. It was a way for me to take a piece of Eugene with me anywhere I went across country since I joined the Marines. A piece of that is gone now. But I know it's not over. It's just a "see you later". There's too much of a following, too much of a family made to just leave everything behind. VIVA LA DONK! -Ted J. Thank god I got that Muse disc when I did! You're very talented and will do great things in whatever field you are in,Carl. -Devin Z. Well this sucks. Thanks for the request hour, hope something comes up for you soon man! Radio in this area won't be the same, especially at 10 am. -Tyler K. You guys will be majorly missed! -Zach R. Gonna miss bushittin with you brotha! KISW is calling you! Hope to see you at the Crüe show. -Charlie B. We all believe in freedom of speech? Until u put it on the air waves. -Steve B. Well that just sucks. I'll miss the all request lunch hour and the Donkey show for sure, they'lll probably keep the stupid stuff like Bob and Tom.......-Jeremy S. How come they still advertise for your show from 10 to 2 and I heard drew saying join us for fat ass Friday today on the donkey show. -David W. Ya'll should do your own radio show like the movie Pirate Radio. -Brittney H. What the what?!!!! I'm so sorry!!!! -Dustin G. I am so sad to hear this come to pass. Rock is indeed dead. I know this will be a new and better chapter for you and you are going to continue to rock the world gonzo style HST FL! -Robin S. That's a bummer... We'll miss listening to the show. Good luck on your new endeavors! -Gina L. Fuck man. All the love from me to you. Especially from my groin area. Lemme know if you're up in Portland, we'll drink scotch in my car. Cheers and hail Santa. Really sad to hear about KFLY... Working with you guys for just half a year was an absolute pleasure. I'll really miss listening to the Donk show and your station in general. Cheers and best wishes to ya boys...KFLY was the only station I'd listen to and only cuz the people who worked there kicked ass. -Sky S. This is heartbreaking. -Jen D. Totally sucks! You will find something great Carl! Good luck! -Julia B. Sorry Carl, didn't realize it was everyone else aswell... just keep us updated on what you're doing. I'll tune in. -Alyson F. Dude, wtf?? I'm sorry to hear about what's going on at the station. This is the exact reason I am apprehensive investing my life, efforts, talent and time, into a corporate workforce. It's always the bottom line first with them. -Douglas C That's bogus! fuck you KFLY! Carl, you can dominate brotha! -Josh F. KFLY SUCKS, SUCKS donkey balls for firing you guys. I will always be a Throbbit. you can't take that away from me. I am SHOCKED that they would do that. why?? you said that the station is being flipped, does that mean it will be playing a different kind of music? crappy country or horrible rap/hip hop music? -Daphne L. This was very likely a business decision made by Bicoastal, not based on anything more than numbers or they are looking to be more attractive to a larger corporate buyer. It is unfortunate but likely not going to change. We went through the same thing at KXPC. -Rick T. Standard ass carl, and the donkey show have been staples in a generation. I don't for a second believe there isn't bigger and better waiting for you guys out there. Let's just hope the transition is a smooth one. -Kyle P. So sorry to hear Carl. Let's stay in touch!! -Sudi G. Dude. Totally BS. Only station I'd have on. Can't believe they just pulled the plug like that. -Dustin B.
